Giants OF Aubrey Huff exploded for 3 homers and tied a career high with 6 RBI in his 4-5 night. The Giants scored a season high 12 runs in beating the Cardinals 12-7. 2B Freddy Sanchez went 1-5 with 2 runs, a homer & 4 RBI. STL SP Lance Lynn’s major league debut didn’t go as planned. He went 5 1/3 innings and gave up 5 runs on 4 hits. OF Colby Rasmus went 2-5 with a triple & a grand slam for a total of 6 RBI.

INJURY NEWS

Red Sox SP Dice K will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the remainder of the season.

The Twins placed DH Jim Thome (quad) & OF Jason Kubel (foot) on the DL.

The Dodgers will activate RP Vincente Padilla from the DL on Friday.  Interesting to see how the Dodgers bullpen shakes out.

The Flyin Hawaiian will be activated Friday for the Phillies.

GAME NOTES

Mets OF Carlos Beltran went 2-4 with a double, homer & 4 RBI in the 9-8 win over the Pirates.  Pittsburgh OF Xavier Paul went 4-5 with a triple, 3 runs, an RBI & 2 SBs.  2B Neil Walker went 2-5 with a homer & 4 RBI.  SP Paul Maholm went 5 2/3 innings and gave up 7 runs on 8 hits but got a ND.  NYM SP Mike Pelfrey also earned a ND after giving up 10 hits & 7 runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Twins SP Anthony Swarzak picked up his first win of the season over the Royals 8-2.  He went 6 innings, scattered 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks & 1 K.  KC SP Sean O’Sullivan went only 2 2/3 innings and gave up 7 runs on 8 hits.  Frenchy went 3-4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI & 3 runs scored.

Rangers OF Endy Chavez went 4-4 with 2 runs, a triple, RBI & SB in the 7-4 win over the Indians.

Nationals SP Jordan Zimmerman went 7 innings allowing only 1 run, 6 hits, a walk & 4 Ks in the 6-1 win over the Diamondbacks.  OF Michael Morse stayed hot going 4-5 with 2 runs & 2 RBI.

Mariners SP King Felix went 7 innings allowing 5 hits, a run, 2 walks & 11 Ks.  Rookie OF Carlos Peguero went 2-4 with 2 homers & 4 RBI.  Tampa SP James Shields went 4 innings and gave up 8 runs on 7 hits in the 8-2 loss.  OF Matt Joyce went 2-4 with a double, SB, & HR.

Astros 3B Chris Johnson went 2-4 with a homer, 2 runs & 2 RBI in the 7-4 win over the Padres.
