Was there a Scuzzlebutt sighting in Missouri? Or is it just another hoax?

Kansas City Royals rookie SP Danny Duffy made his major league debut against the Texas Rangers Wednesday night. The game was won by the Rangers 5-4 in 11 innings so he didn’t factor in the decision. He went 4 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 runs, 6 walks and 4 Ks. Fellow rookie 1B Eric Hosmer came up in the bottom of the 9th with the Royals down 1 and BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!  hit a homer off of Rangers closer Neftali Feliz to send the game into extra innings. He had a chance to really be the hero when he came up in the 10th inning with the bases loaded but flew out to left. Wait what?  Rangers rookie SP Alexi Ogando went 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 runs, a walk & 5 Ks.  What did he get for his trouble?  NOTHING.  Nothing but a no decision.

INJURY NEWS

Reds OF Jay Bruce missed Wednesday’s game with an illness.

Cardinals OF Colby Rasmus missed his 4th straight game with an abdominal injury.

Orioles 2B Brian Roberts sat out with severe headaches.

Cardinals OF Matt Holliday left the game with tightness in his left quad.

Cardinals OF Lance Berkman left the game in the 5th inning with right wrist soreness.  They say it will make you go blind as well.

I saw you...AND HIM....walking in the rain...

4 games on Tuesday night were washed away due to rain. Pirates/Nationals, Blue Jays/Tigers, Orioles/Red Sawx, Marlins/Mets.

INJURY NEWS

Mets 3B David Wright was placed on the DL with a stress fracture in his back.  Probably from trying to carry that woeful team on his back all season.

Reds RP Aroldis Chapman was placed on the DL with shoulder inflammation.  Yeah sure..that’s what it was.

Yankees RP Rafael Soriano went on the DL with an elbow injury.  It was his right one, the same one that’s given him many problems in the past.

Yankees OF Nick Swisher missed Tuesday night’s game with an illness.  Must have looked at the standings.  He was quoted as saying he hasn’t felt this bad since that Anita Bryant concert.

White Sox 3B Mark Teahan went on the DL with a strained right oblique.

Red Sox SP Dice K went on the DL with elbow problems.

Cardinals OF Colby Rasmus sat out Tuesday night’s game with an abdominal issue.

Really? All I did was take the weekend off. I think LeBron had a better reaction when he returned to Cleveland...

The millions AND MILLIONS of my fans were not happy I took a hiatus.   I have to admit to feeling a bit out of sorts today. Feels like we missed so much. Without further ado let’s start with what me missed this past weekend. Not much right? Except …
A Justin Verlander no-hitter against the Blue Jays. He struck out 4 and walked 1 in the Tigers 9-0 victory Saturday.
Derek Jeter had 4 hits including his first 2 homers of the season on Sunday in the Yankees 12-5 victory over the Rangers. Backup C Francisco Cervelli added a grand slam for his first homer of the year. First homer in several years I believe.
The Major League debut of Braves SP Julio Teheran who lost his first big league start against the Phillies. His line wasn’t pretty…4 2/3 IP, 4 H, 3R, 2 BB & only 1 K. But scouts were impressed by the 20 year old. He’ll be back.
Also making his ML debut over the weekend was the first of the Royals prized prospects 1B Eric Hosmer. He went 3-9 over the weekend with a double, a run scored, RBI, 3 walks and a SB.
Braves SP Derek Lowe outdueled Phillies SP Cliff Lee on Saturday. If not for a blister on his right foot, who knows what would have happened. Lowe settled for a 2 hit shutout and had to leave in the 7th. Cliff Lee went 7 innings and gave up 3 runs on 9 hits but had a career high 16 strikeouts. Also the most by a SP in the majors so far this season.

Dodgers OF Andre Ethier had his hit streak ended at 30 games.

Reds SP Johnny Cueto won his season debut for the Reds going 6 shutout innings allowing 5 hits with a walk & 4 Ks.
