Baltimore OF Nelson Reimold went 2-4 with a homer & 4 RBI. 3B Mark Reynolds went 2-4 with a homer, 2 runs & 2 RBI.  Berkman is having a strong year with the Cardinals after struggling with the Yankees after being traded to them last season…

Mets SP Jon Niese has overcome his heart issues and is well enough to start on Friday against the Yankees.  He must have went to Donovan McNabb’s doctor to get clearance.

Yankees SP Bartolo Colon will come off the DL and start Saturday against the Mets.  Interesting…that big body coming off a hamstring injury and he’s making his first start back in an NL park where he will have to bat & run the bases?  Interesting!

Yankee SS Derek Jeter will return from his calf injury and resume his quest for 3000 hits when he comes off the DL on Monday.

Mariners SP Erik Bedard went on the DL with a knee injury.  Most of us had shoulder in the office injury pool.

The Phillies lost yet another closer when Ryan Madson injured his hand on a comeback and went on the DL.  He joins fellow closers Brad Lidge and Jose Contreras on the disabled list.  Look for youngster Antonio Bastardo to take over closer duties.  Yes that’s his real name.

A’s SP Rich Harden will come off the DL and make his season debut against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Pink slip day on Thursday as Diamondbacks 3B Melvin Mora, Cardinals RP and former All Star closer Ryan Franklin, Cubs SP Doug Davis, and Red Sox OF Mike Cameron were all cut today.

The Rockies acquired 2B Mark Ellis from the Oakland A’s.  Looks like rookie Jemile Weeks has the job all to himself now.  Red Dragons!

Yankees SP CC Sabathia tied for the major league lead with his 11th win over his former team the Milwaukee Brewers 5-0.  He went 7 2/3 innings and allowed 6 hits, 2 walks, and tied his career high with 13 Ks.  1B Mark Teixeira went 1-4 and took over the ML lead in homers from Joey Bats with his 25th bomb of the season.  It was also #300 for his career.  Milwaukee OF Ryan Braun went 3-3 with a walk as the Brewers were swept in the 3 game series.

Tigers SP Justin Verlander matched CC with his 11th win in a 5-2 win over the Mets.  Verlander went 7 innings and allowed 7 hits with a run, 2 walks & 6 Ks.

White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham went 3-3 with 2 solo shots in Chicago’s 6-4 win in 10 innings over the Rockies.

Cubs C Geovany Soto hit a 3 run pinch-hit walkoff homer to beat the Giants in 13 innings 5-2.  SF SP Matt Cain picked up a ND going 7 scoreless innings and allowing 4 hits with a walk & 6 Ks.  Chicago SP Carlos Zambrano left the game after only 34 pitches due to back stiffness and ended up going to the hospital.

The hospital?  What is it?

It’s a large building with patients, but that’s not important right now.

Marlins SP Chris Volstad improved to 4-7 on the year by beating the A’s 5-4.  He went 7 innings and allowed 0 ERs, 7 hits, 2 walks and 0 Ks.  A’s SP Trevor Cahill took the loss giving up 5 runs on 9 hits in 4 2/3 innings.
