A DH has to keep himself busy while not playing the field...

The Red Sox lost to the Padres 5-4 and their lead in the AL East over the Yankees shrunk to 1 game.  The win broke a 6 game losing streak for San Diego.  Former Padre 1B A-Gone went 1-5 with an RBI..he now leads the major leagues with 68.  Big Papi went 0-5 but stole a base!  Wish we had footage of that.  It was his first one since 2008 or something like that.

Stay tuned to the end of the post for an update from our brand new reporter in the field.

Cardinals 1B Albert Pujols is on the DL with a fractured forearm.  He is rumored to miss anywhere between 4 & 7 weeks.  Might as well get a weatherman to predict his return date.

Reds SP Johnny Cueto had his start skipped Monday night due to a stiff neck and should start one of the games on Wednesday.

Red Sox SP Josh Beckett missed his start on Tuesday night due to an illness.  They are hoping he can return for his next scheduled start on Saturday.

Astros OF Hunter Pence missed Tuesday’s game as well with an elbow injury.

Rangers C Yorvit Torreabla missed Monday & Tuesday’s games due to dehydration.

Orioles SP Jake Arrieta will possibly have his next turn in the rotation skipped.

Brewers SP Shaun Marcum will start Wednesday, and White Sox SP Jake Peavy will come off the DL & start Wednesday as well.

Pirates 2B Neil Walker went 2-4 with a double & 3 RBI as Pittsburgh snapped a 4 game losing streak in beating the Orioles 9-3.  Baltimore SP Jeremy Guthrie fell to 2-9 and is now tied for the AL lead in losses.  Not a category you want to lead the league in.

Mariners SP Doug Fister went 8 innings and allowed a run on only 3 hits with a walk & 3 Ks but had to settle for a ND.  Wilson Ramos went 1-4 but his only hit was a 3-run walkoff homer for the 6-5 win.  Seattle was up 5-1 going into the 9th, with 2 outs closer Brandon League took a comebacker off his leg & had to leave the game…from there chaos ensued.

Rockies OF Seth Smith went 3-4 with 2 homers & 3 RBIs with one of the homers being a solo shot in the Top of the 9th to break the 3-3 tie and give Colorado the 4-3 win.

Mets rookie SP Dillon Gee has had a tough go of it the last 2 starts.  Tuesday night he picked up his first loss, falling to 7-1 in the 7-3 loss to the A’s.  He went 4 innings and allowed 4 runs on 3 hits with 6 walks & a K.  OF Jason Bay went 3-3 with a triple & a homer..his first extra base hits in a LONG time….Oakland rookie 2B Jemile Weeks went 1-3 with 3 runs scored, 2 walks & 2 SBs.  He’s now hitting .362 on the season.  Just saying…

Braves SP Mike Minor went 7 innings allowing a run on 5 hits with a walk & 8 Ks in the 5-1 win over the Blue Jays.  His reward for his first victory of the season?  A trip back to AAA.  SP Brandon Beachy is coming off the DL on Wednesday to face Toronto so Minor was sent back down.  That’s life in The Show.  C Brian McCann went 2-3 with a homer & 2 RBI.

The Marlins broke an 11 game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the Angels.  Trader Jack may be onto something here, the 80 year old geezer!  He got OF Mike Stanton back from his eye injury, that sure helped..he went 3-4 with a double & 2 RBI.  He also played HanRam in the cleanup spot and he went 2-4 with 2 runs & his 13th SB.  SP Javier Vazquez went 5 1/3 innings and scattered 10 hits, allowing 0 runs, 0 walks & 4 Ks.

Astros rookie SP Jordan Lyles is still winless on the season after picking up a ND in the 5-4 loss to the Rangers in 11 innings.  He went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits with 2 walks & 6 Ks.  OF Michael Bourn redeemed himself by going 3-5 with 2 doubles, 2 runs, 2 RBI & 2 SBs to increase his league leading total to 32 on the season.  Rangers IF Michael Young went 3-5 with a solo homer.  OF Mitch Moreland went 1-5 but ended the game with a walkoff in the bottom of the 11th.

Brewers SP Zack Grienke went 7 innings allowing a run on 4 hits with 0 walks & 10 Ks in the 5-1 win over the Rays.

Diamondbacks OF Chris Young went 1-4 with 2 RBI & connected on his 15th dinger of the year in the 7-2 win over the Royals.

Phillies C Carlos Ruiz went 4-4 with a walk, run, & RBI in the 10-2 win over the Cardinals.  SP Roy Halladay went 6 innings and allowed a run on 4 hits with 2 walks & 5 Ks.  He picked up the ND.  13 of his 16 starts this year have been Quality Starts.  STL SP Kyle McClellan went 7 innings and allowed a run on 5 hits with 4 walks & 2 Ks.  He picked up a ND as well.

Giants SP Madison Bumgarner got lit up for 9 hits and 8 runs while only recording one out in the game…a strikeout…and that was the f’ing pitcher Carl Pavano.  All 8 batters up to that point got a hit and also scored a run.  The Giants inevitably lost to the Twins 9-2.  Minnesota SP Carl Pavano went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs on 9 hits with 0 walks & 2 Ks.

White Sox 1B Paul Konerko went 2-3 with a double & also homered in his fifth straight game.  Chicago beat Chicago 3-2.  OK the White Sox won, the Cubs lost.

Dodgers SP Chad Billingsley went 5 1/3 innings pitched, allowing a run on 6 hits with 2 walks & 6 Ks in the Dodgers 6-1 win over the Tigers.  OF Matt Kemp went 0-3 with a walk & 2 SBs.  He now has 20 homers & 20 SBs for the season..and it’s only June 21st!  Can  you say MVP?  Detroit SP Max Scherzer gave up 6 runs on 9 hits in 6 innings.

OK so correspondent Brian Collins didn’t work out so well for us, now we’re going to try someone else. Isiah Carey is on location north of Little Rock, Arkansas with an update on a hot pitching prospect due to be a senior in high school next year. Take it away Isiah…
