Now if I told you one of these guys was baseball's all time home run leader until 2001 which one would you guess? The little one?

The Braves activated Jason Heyward from the DL today.  His entire team didn’t do anything in a 4-0 loss to the Mets.  The Braves had 2 hits, but Heyward didn’t get one of them.  He did walk though in his return.  This will be the last time I try to get a head start and lead with a story before the damn game starts.  Dillon Gee got screwed out of his 8th straight win by an hour & 11 minute rain delay.  Bobby Purnell picked up the W in relief.

The Twins are reporting catcher Joe Mauer will be activated on Friday.

Cubs OF Alfonso Soriano was activated from the DL.

Blue Jays SP Kyle Drabek was optioned to AAA.

The Astros placed RP Brandon Lyon on the DL with biceps tendonitis.

I threw everyone off today by going with the good news first.  Oh and another special surprise…I was able to track down The Derek Jeter DIVE video…unfortunately it’s a link…progress??

Reds SP Travis Wood beat the Dodgers this afternoon 7-2 going 6 innings and allowing a run on 5 hits with 5 walks & 2 Ks.  LA SP Chad Billingsley gave up 7 runs on 9 hits in 4 innings of work.

Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick went 7 innings and gave up a run on 5 hits with a walk & 5 Ks in the 9-1 win over the slumping Marlins.  The Phillies swept the doubleheader when Florida closer Leo Nunez blew the save and Philly won in 10 innings.  Closer Ryan Madson picked up a cheap win.

Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin went 6 innings and allowed 1 run on 3 hits with 2 walks & 7 Ks in the 6-3 win over the Padres in Game 1 of a doubleheader.  Rookie OF Charlie Blackmon went 2-4 with a run, SB & RBI.  He’s batting .343 and has 5 steals in his 9 games since being called up from AAA.

The Cardinals activated Kyle McClellan off the DL to start today and boy were the Nationals glad they did!  He gave up 5 runs (only 3 earned) and 7 hits in 5 innings of the 10-0 blowout.  Washington SP Livan Hernandez threw a CG SHO giving up only 3 hits with 0 walks & 6 Ks.  OF Mike Morse remained en fuego going 3-4 with 2 homers, 3 runs, and 3 RBI.

Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira went 3-5 with 2 homers, 3 runs and 4 RBI as the Yankees blasted the Rangers by the same score as Tuesday night 12-4.  He is now tied for the league lead with Joey Bats and teammate Curtis Granderson with 21 homers.  This is the 9th straight year he’s had 20+ homers.  He also hit a homer from both sides of the plate in the same game for the 11th time in his career.  That tied him for the most all-time with Eddie Murray & Chili Davis.  He also probably should have been the lead story tonight.  2 hits Atlanta?  REALLY???

Blue Jays SP Ricky Romero went 8 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits with 4 walks and he tied a career high with 12 Ks in the 4-1 win over Baltimore.

Red Sox SP Josh Beckett threw a 1 hit CG SHO over the Rays 3-0.  He struck out 6 and didn’t allow a walk.  A third inning IF hit by Reid Brignac was all TB got.  Kevin Youkilis hit a 3 run bomb for Boston’s offense.

Twins SP Carl Pavano threw a CG in a 4-1 win over the White Sox.  He gave up a run on 6 hits with 3 walks & 5 Ks.  Chicago SP Gavin Floyd went the full 8 innings allowing 4 runs on 11 hits with 2 walks & 6 Ks.

Astros OF Michael Bourn went 3-4 with a run, RBI & 2 SBs to give him a ML leading 29 on the season.  Unfortunately his Astros suck and they lost 7-3 to the Pirates.

A’s SP Josh Outman threw 7 scoreless innings allowing 4 hits with 2 walks & 2 Ks in the 2-1 win over the Royals.

Giants SP Madison Bumgarner improved to 3-8 on the season by  beating the Diamondbacks 5-2.  He went 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with a walk & 6 Ks.

Mariners SP Erik Bedard went 7 scoreless innings allowing 3 hits with 0 walks & 5 Ks in the 3-1 win over the Angels.

Since there are no Jason Heyward highlights from tonight, check out the Jeter flip video I owe you from yesterday.
