Twins SP Francisco Liriano was flirting with his second no-hitter of the season. Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre foiled it with a single leading off the 8th inning. The Twins ended up beating the Rangers 6-1. Texas SP Matt Harrison left in the 7th inning after taking a line drive back up the box. He had given up a run on 5 hits at that point. Liriano ended up working 8 innings and giving up a run on 2 hits with no walks & 9 Ks. Michael Cuddyer was at 1B and went 1-2 with a homer, 2 walks & 3 RBI.

INJURY NEWS

The Yankees placed SP Bartolo Colon on the DL with a strained hamstring.

Rangers C/1B/DH Mike Napoli went on the DL with an injured oblique.

Padres SP Aaron Harang was put on the DL with a foot injury.

Astros OF Hunter Pence and his 22 game hitting streak sat out on Sunday with continued lower back soreness.

A’s OF Josh Willingham sat out Sunday with a sore achilles.

Rays OF Matt Joyce’s shoulder has improved, but his batting average hasn’t, prompting Joe Maddon to sit him against the LHP on Sunday.

Orioles rookie SP Zach Britton will have his next start pushed back from Tuesday to Friday to limit his innings. He now avoids the Blue Jays and gets the Nationals.

Speaking of the Nationals, 3B Ryan Zimmerman is expected back on Tuesday.

Marlins SS Hanley Ramirez is expected back on Tuesday as well.

Marlins closer Leo Nunez continues to deal with a stiff back.  They are hoping he’s well enough to return on Monday or Tuesday.

Astros SP Wandy Rodriguez is expected back on Monday.  Look for rookie Jordan Lyles to remain in the rotation though.

Orioles 1B Derrek Lee returns from the bereavement list on Tuesday.

Cardinals SP Kyle McClellan hopes to return and start on Wednesday.

Cardinals OF Matt Holliday is hoping to be back on Thursday.

Cubs OF Alfonso Soriano is targeting Wednesday for his return.

Giants 3B Kung Fu Panda should be activated on Tuesday.

Braves rookie SP Mike Minor should stay up with the big club for one more start on Thursday as Brandon Beachy continues to rehab.

Cubs IF Jeff Baker should return on Monday.

GAME NOTES

Mariners SP King Felix went 8 innings and scattered 9 hits, 3 runs, 5 walks & 6 Ks in the 7-3 win over the Tigers.  C Miguel Olivo went 2-4 with 2 bombs & 3 RBI.

Red Sox SP Jon Lester went 8 innings allowing only 2 hits and 1 run with a walk & 8 Ks in the 14-1 thrashing of the Blue Jays.  Boston completed a 3 game sweep outscoring Toronto 35-6.  3B Kevin Youkilis went 3-4 with 3 runs, a double, homer & 4 RBI in their 9th straight win.  1B A-Gone now has an RBI in 9 straight games and leads the majors with 60.  Blue Jay SP Kyle Drabek went 4 innings allowing 8 runs on 7 hits with 4 walks & 5 Ks.  OF Joey Bats hit his major league leading 21st homer.

Diamondbacks SP Dan Hudson went 6 innings and gave up 1 run on 8 hits with 3 walks & 7 Ks in the 5-1 win over the Marlins.

Braves SP Tommy Hanson went 7 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits with 2 walks & a career high 14 Ks in the 4-1 win over the Astros.  2B Dan Uggla went 2-3 with 2 runs, a homer & 2 RBI.  It was his first home run since May 15th.  Jonny Venters picked up the save as closer Craig Kimbrel threw 30 pitches on Saturday night.  It was the 6th straight win for the Braves.

Yankees SP Freddy Garcia went 6 2/3 innings allowing a run on 7 hits with 2 walks & 6 Ks in the 9-1 win over the slumping Indians.  The Grandy Man went 4-4 with a double, 2 runs & 2 RBI.  Cleveland SP Josh Tomlin gave up 6 runs on 12 hits in 5 innings.  NYY C Russell Martin was back in the lineup going 0-4 with a K.  He also let up 5 SBs w/o nailing anyone.

Phillies SP Roy Oswalt improved to 4-4 on the season in beating the Cubs 4-3.  He went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits with 2 walks & 5 Ks.  1B Ryan Howard went 3-3 with 3 RBI.

Mets SP Chris Capuano went 7 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits, 2 walks and 5 Ks in the 7-0 rout of the Pirates.  SS Jose Reyes went 3-5 with a solo.

Brewers SP Shaun Marcum improved to 7-2 on the season by beating their Central division rival Cardinals 4-3.  He went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits with 2 walks & 8 Ks.

White Sox SP Phil Humber went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits with 2 walks & 7 Ks in the 5-4 win over the A’s.  DH Adam Dunn went 1-4 with a homer & 3 RBI.  Oakland 3B Scott Sizemore went 1-3 with his first homer of the season.

Rays 3B Evan Longoria went 1-3 with an inside the parker and 3 RBI.  Orioles SP Brian Matusz gave up 4 runs on 5 hits with 4 walks and no whiffs in just an inning and a third in the 9-6 Rays win.  Baltimore 3B Mark Reynolds left the game in the 7th with a left forearm contusion after getting smoked by a line drive earlier in the game.

Rockies SP Ubaldo Jiminez gave up 12 hits and 7 runs (only 2 earned) with a walk & 2 Ks in the 10-8 loss to the Dodgers.  LA rookie SP Rubby De La Rosa is now 3-0 on the season after leaving in the 5th inning with a forearm cramp.  1B James Loney went 3-5 with a grand slam.  Colorado OF CarGo went 3-5 with a double, homer, SB, 2 runs & 2 RBI.  SS Tulo went 2-4 with a homer, 2 runs & 2 RBI.

Royals SP Vin Mazzaro picked up his first win of the season in a big way by beating the Angels 7-0.  It’s been a rough one so far for Mazzaro, but on Sunday he went 7 scoreless, allowing 5 hits with 5 walks & 0 Ks.  He was helped by the KC defense turning 5 double plays.  His ERA went from 17.47 to 10.80

Nationals SP Jordan Zimmerman and Padres SP Tim Stauffer both picked up tough luck NDs on Sunday in the Nats 2-0 win.  Zimmerman went 7 shutout innings, allowing just 4 hits with a walk & 10 Ks.  Stauffer went 7 innings also, giving up 5 hits with 3 walks & 5 Ks.
