10/20/96..what is this Turn Back the Clock Week at FB2K?

Yankees OF Andruw Jones went 3-3 with 2 homers and 4 RBI in the Yankees 7-3 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday afternoon. We won’t get into the fact that he was pinch hit for by manager Joe Girardi. Seeing that reminds us of his rookie year, 1996. Game 1 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium he became the youngest player ever to hit 2 home runs in a World Series game, at 19 years 180 days. He broke the record of Yankee legend Mickey Mantle, and to make matters worse the Braves won the game. The Yankees came back to win the epic Series of course. Ironically, Andruw’s last 2 homer game came on 5/1/10 as a member of the Chicago White Sox AT Yankee Stadium. Interesting. Also today, Yankees closer Mariano Rivera became the first player ever to pitch 1000 games for one team. Very historic day in the Bronx..as Blue Jays SP Jo-Jo Reyes remained winless in his last 28 starts. His last win was 6/13/08 vs the Angels. Back when they were just the Anaheim Angels…or maybe the California Angels? Anyway…Reyes gave up 5 runs and 5 hits in 3 innings.

INJURY NEWS

Tigers SP Phil Coke went on the DL with a bone bruise on his ankle.

Red Sox 3B Kevin Youkilis missed Wednesday’s game with a sore left hand.  Don’t think they needed him today.  See after the jump.

Yeah it’s that kind of day/night.
