The Cardinals had the "green light" so to speak on Sunday....

The relevance of that picture is that history was made on Sunday…well tied at least. Cardinals OF Colby Rasmus went 0-1 with a run scored, and a very important RBI. A game-winning RBI, but a very cheap one because he didn’t exactly DRIVE the run in…he merely walked. The Cardinals beat the Royals 9-8 in 10 innings due to Rasmus walking with the bases loaded off of rookie pitcher Danny Duffy. He did a lot of staring at balls on Sunday. He walked an astounding 5 times! Wait what?  It’s not like he’s 2001 Barry Bonds here…or even Jose Bautista! Fernando Salas earned his 7th save in 7 chances.  OF Lance Berkman returned to the lineup and went 0-4 with 2 walks of his own & a run. OF Matt Holliday was 0-3 with an RBI when he left in the 5th inning after re-injuring his quad. Same injury that had him missing time this past week.

INJURY NEWS

Phillies 2B Chase Utley was activated off of the DL & will return Monday.  See I started with some good news for once!

Rangers OFs Josh Hamilton & Nelson Cruz will also return on Monday.

Twins DH Jim Thome was activated off the DL.

OK enough with the pleasantries…Braves OF Jason Heyward was placed on the DL with a bad shoulder.

Cubs OF Marlin Byrd went on the DL with facial injuries from the beaning he took on Saturday.  He was hospitalized and his eye was swollen shut.  His return this season is in question.

Dodgers OF Andre Ethier left Sunday’s game after crashing into the wall chasing down a Juan Pierre drive.  Those 3 words don’t quite go together due they?  Was Pierre hitting from 2nd base??

Phillies closer Ryan Madson is still dealing with a sore hand from a comebacker on Friday night.  He’s hoping to be ready on Monday.

Braves SP Tim Hudson is having his next start on Wednesday skipped due to a sore back.  Look for another top Braves prospect Mike Minor to come up from AAA to make the start.
