The Indians were on the warpath in Kansas City tonight

The Cleveland Indians jumped all over the Kansas City Royals Monday night and pummeled them 19-1. 1B Matt Laporta was 4-4 with 4 RBIs. The unfortunate victim in all of this, not counting KC’s fans was Vin Mazzero. He lasted an inning and a third and gave up 14 earned runs. That’s hard to do.

INJURY NEWS

Speaking of Indians, OF Grady Sizemore went on the DL with a knee injury.

Red Sox SP John Lackey was placed on the DL with an elbow injury.

Blue Jays 1B Adam Lind is on the DL with a bad back.

Marlins ace Josh Johnson left after 5 innings Monday night with a left forearm contustion.  He took a comebacker from Carlos Beltran.

Orioles 1B Derrick Lee has a strained left oblique.

GAME NOTES

Red Sox 1B Adrian Gonzalez was 3-5 with 3 RBI with the last 2 being the game-winners for Boston’s comeback win over the Orioles.  They were down 5-0 and came back to win 6-5.  A-Gone now leads the Majors with 37 RBIs.

Texas SP Colby Lewis threw a complete game shutout at the White Sox.  He gave up 5 hits and whiffed 7.

Braves SP Tommy Hanson beat the Astros going 7 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run, and 10 Ks with 1 BB.

Phillies SP Cliff Lee walked 6 batters in 6 innings in a loss to the Cardinals Monday night.  He had walked 7 batters all year coming into the game.  Fernando Salas earned his 3rd save of the season in the STL closing carousel.  It’s easier to pick Alyssa Milano’s current boyfriend than who will get the next save for the Cardinals.

Cubs SP Carlos Zambrano gave up 6 runs and 6 hits in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Reds.  The Cubs sent 1B/OF Tyler Colvin to AAA.  Not because of this game or anything…just a coincidence.

Yankees OF Curtis Granderson was 1-4 with 3 RBI & his 14th homer of the season in their 6-5 loss to the Rays.  7 of those homers have come against lefties.

Blue Jays SP Kyle Drabek outdueled Max Scherzer Monday night.  Drabek got the win going 7 innings, giving up 3 hits, 1 run, 2 Ks & 6 walks.  Scherzer took a no decision, giving up 8 hits and 0 earned runs in 7 innings with 1 walk and only 2 Ks.

Mariners rookie SP Michael Pineda improved to 5-2 on the season after beating the Twins.  The MINNESOTA Twins…gotta clarify that.  That just doesn’t sound right.  Pineda went 7 innings and gave up only 3 hits, 0 walks, 0 runs, and 7 Ks.  He has a 22/1 K:BB ratio over his last 3 starts.  Twins OF Delmon Young struck out 3 times for the 3rd straight game.  He’s got a hat trick in 3 straight games.  Wayne Gretzy would be proud, Ron Gardenhire is not.

Diamonbacks catcher Henry Blanco went 2-3 with 2 solo homers in Arizona’s 8-4 loss to the Padres.
