Batista/Bautista...what's the difference?

Blue Jays OF & 2010 Major League Home Run champ Jose Bautista went 1-5 Saturday with his Major League leading 13th homer. Looks like his 54 bombs last year was no fluke.

INJURY NEWS

Diamondbacks 3B Ryan Roberts missed Friday & Saturday’s game with an illness.

Padres 3B Chase Headley(Lamar) left Saturday’s game after suffering a slight ankle sprain.  Doesn’t sound too serious.

In breaking injury news, Indians OF Grady Sizemore will miss Sunday’s game with his troublesome knee injury.  What’s this 5 in a row?  What the H?   Mets OF Carlos Beltran will return to the lineup on Sunday as his eye injury has cleared up.  Cardinals OF Colby Rasmus will sit out Sunday’s game as well.

GAME NOTES

Reds SP Johnny Cueto won his 2nd straight start after coming off of the DL.  We went 7 2/3 innings, giving up 0 earned runs, 3 hits, 2 walks & 5 Ks.  Catcher Ramon Hernandez went 3-3 with 2 solo homers.  2B Brandon Phillips went 2-3 with a homer and 3 RBIs in their victory over the Cardinals.

Orioles SP Brad Bergeson threw his first career CG Shutout in beating the AL East leading Rays 6-0.  He gave up 4 hits, a walk and 5 Ks.

Padres SP Aaron Harang got lit up for 7 runs on 9 hits in 4 2/3 innings with 4 walks and 3 Ks.

Mets SP RA Dickey gave up 11 hits and 6 runs in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Astros.  Guess the knuckler wasn’t knuckling.

A’s SP Tyson Ross beat the White Sox going 7 1/3 innings, giving up 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk with 8 Ks.  Opposing starter Gavin Floyd had his worst start of the season.  He gave up 5 runs on 9 hits in just 4 1/3 innings.

Braves SP Jair Jurrjens improved to 5-0 on the season in beating the Phillies.  He went 7 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits with a walk and 6 Ks.

Marlins SP Annibel “Dirty” Sanchez threw 8 innings of 3-hit shutout ball at the Nationals in the Marlins 1-0 win.  He walked 2 and struck out 9.

Tigers SP Brad Penny shut out the Royals, going 8 innings and allowing 5 hits with no walks and 2 Ks.  KC SP Jeff Francis completed the game allowing 3 runs on 7 hits with a walk and 4 Ks.  He falls to 0-5 on the season with the loss.

The Diamondbacks and Dodgers engaged in an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel Saturday night.  Arizona SP Josh Collmenter went 6 innings allowing no runs and only 2 hits with 0 walks and 3 Ks.  Dodgers SP Chad Billingsley went 8 innings allowing only 1 hit, 2 walks & 8 Ks.  But he did let up an unearned run, which was the difference in the 1-0 D’Backs victory.

The ESPN Saturday night game featured arguably the biggest rivalry in all of sports.  The Yankees/Red Sox.  Boston SP Josh Beckett went 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 4 hits with 9 Ks for the win.  Yankees SP CC Sabathia went 6 2/3 innings giving up 7 hits, 6 runs, 3 walks and 6 Ks in the 6-0 loss.  The big blow was Adrian Gonzalez’s 3-run jack.  It was A-Gone’s 6th homer in his last 6 games.  The 2 teams play the rubber game in the series Sunday night on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.

In more breaking news, the Giants/Cubs & Royals/Tigers games on Sunday have been postponed due to bad weather.  Update your lineups according.  I just want to tell you good luck, we’re all counting on you.
