Why weren't there any baseball fields at Camp Crystal Lake?

Let’s get right to the Injury Updates for this Friday the 13th.
Braves rookie SP Brandon Beachy was placed on the DL for a strained oblique. He left his start after 2 innings on Friday after giving up 2 runs on 6 hits.
Braves OF Jason Heyward hopes to return to the lineup Monday.
Tigers OF Magglio Ordonez was placed on the DL with an ankle injury.
Indians OF Grady Sizemore has missed 4 straight games with a sore knee. Not the same one he had surgery on last year I might add.
Rangers OF Julio Borbon was placed on the DL with a hamstring injury.
Blue Jays 1B Adam Lind missed Friday night’s game, as well as Saturday afternoon’s.
Phillies OF Shane Victorino injured his hamstring and should miss a couple of days.

Mets OF Carlos Beltran has a right eye injury and missed Saturday’s game.

Giants 2010 rookie playoff sensation Madison Bumgarner is 0-6 on the season.  WAIT WHAT?  He went 6 innings and gave up 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and 6 Ks…but took the loss.  Cubs SP Ryan Dempster got the victory allowing 2 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings of work with a walk and 11 Ks.

Padres OF Cameron Maybin went 4-4 with 2 homers, 3 runs, and 3 RBIs Friday night.

Tigers SP Justin Verlander continued where he left off with his no-hitter in his last start, going 5 2/3 innings before giving up his first hit.  He won the game, allowing only 2 hits and a run in 8 innings with 3 walks & 7 Ks.

Mariners closer Brandon League has now accumulated 4 straight losses and 3 blown saves in his last 4 appearances.  He’s given up 12 hits and 10 runs in his last 3 IP.

Cardinals closer Eduardo Sanchez blew his first save Friday night and pitching coach Dave Duncan has already said he’s lost his grip on the job.  Look for Fernando Salas or Mitchell Boggs to take over.

Rays SP Jeremy Hellickson threw a CG shutout against the Orioles Friday.  He gave up 4 hits with a walk and 3 Ks.  Opposing pitcher Jeremy Guthrie went the entire game as well, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits with 2 walks and 5 Ks.  Jeremy vs Jeremy on Friday the 13th?  What the H?  I wonder if Eddie Vedder was there?  Maybe if the Mariners were playing…

Rangers rookie SP Alexi Ogando improved to 4-0 as Texas gave Angels SP Jared Weaver his 3rd straight loss after starting the season 6-0.  Ogando went 6 1/3 giving up 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and 5 Ks.

Blue Jays SP Ricky Romero went 8 2/3 shutout innings, giving up 4 hits, 3 walks and 8 Ks.  OF Jose Bautista went 3-4 and tied Yankees OF Curtis Granderson for the Major League HR lead with his 12th.

Pirates OF Andrew McCutcheon was back in the lineup Friday night after being benched for failure to hustle.  Wonder if that ever happened to Denny Terrio?  He went 0-4 in his return and Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw went 7 shutout innings allowing 3 hits, 2 walks and 11 Ks.  Closer Vincente Padilla entered in the 9th and promptly yielded 2 hits, 2 walks and 2 runs so he gave way to Kenley Jansen who got the K to end the game and recorded his first major league save.

The Reds sent SP Mike Leake to AAA.

Marlins OF Logan Morrison went 1-4 with a homer in his return from the DL on Friday night.

Cardinals 3B Scott Rolen went 3-5 with an RBI in his return.

Saturday’s Mariners/Indians game has been postponed.
