Really? All I did was take the weekend off. I think LeBron had a better reaction when he returned to Cleveland...

The millions AND MILLIONS of my fans were not happy I took a hiatus.   I have to admit to feeling a bit out of sorts today. Feels like we missed so much. Without further ado let’s start with what me missed this past weekend. Not much right? Except …
A Justin Verlander no-hitter against the Blue Jays. He struck out 4 and walked 1 in the Tigers 9-0 victory Saturday.
Derek Jeter had 4 hits including his first 2 homers of the season on Sunday in the Yankees 12-5 victory over the Rangers. Backup C Francisco Cervelli added a grand slam for his first homer of the year. First homer in several years I believe.
The Major League debut of Braves SP Julio Teheran who lost his first big league start against the Phillies. His line wasn’t pretty…4 2/3 IP, 4 H, 3R, 2 BB & only 1 K. But scouts were impressed by the 20 year old. He’ll be back.
Also making his ML debut over the weekend was the first of the Royals prized prospects 1B Eric Hosmer. He went 3-9 over the weekend with a double, a run scored, RBI, 3 walks and a SB.
Braves SP Derek Lowe outdueled Phillies SP Cliff Lee on Saturday. If not for a blister on his right foot, who knows what would have happened. Lowe settled for a 2 hit shutout and had to leave in the 7th. Cliff Lee went 7 innings and gave up 3 runs on 9 hits but had a career high 16 strikeouts. Also the most by a SP in the majors so far this season.

Dodgers OF Andre Ethier had his hit streak ended at 30 games.

Reds SP Johnny Cueto won his season debut for the Reds going 6 shutout innings allowing 5 hits with a walk & 4 Ks.

Rangers OF Nelson Cruz went on the DL this past weekend.

Blue Jays 2B Aaron Hill came off the DL and went 1-4 on Sunday.

Twins SP Francisco Liriano had his Monday start pushed back to Tuesday due to a sore throat.  This would be his first start since the no-no.

Alexi Ogando had his Sunday start against the Yankees skipped due to the recurring blister problem.  He hopes to start Friday at the Angels.

NY Mets SP Chris Young was placed on the DL.  Dillon Gee will replace him in the rotation.

Mariners DH Milton Bradley was released by the team on Monday.  No word on whether they plan to sign one of the Parker Bros.

Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre was rested Monday night, as was Reds 1B and reigning NL MVP Joey Votto.

Pirates 3B Pedro Alvarez was back in the lineup.

Orioles SS JJ Hardy is due back from the DL on Tuesday.

Angels OF Vernon Wells left Monday night’s game in the 4th inning with a strained groin.

A’s SP Trevor Cahill improved to 6-0 on the season by beating the Rangers and CJ Wilson Monday night.  He went 7 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits with a walk and 7 Ks.  OF Josh Willingham went 2-4 with a double, homer and 5 RBI.

Tigers SP and Jewish sports legend Max Scherzer also moved to 6-0 on the season.  He went 5 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks and 5 Ks in beating the Blue Jays. Toronto SP Brandon Morrow left after 3 1/3 innings and giving up 5 runs on only 3 hits with 3 walks and 6 Ks.

White Sox SP Edwin Jackson went 7 scoreless innings against the Angels.  He gave up 5 hits, a walk and 5 Ks.

Brewers SP Zach Grienke earned his first victory of the season over the Padres.  He went 6 innings, gave up 5 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks and 9 Ks.

Marlins 1B Gaby Sanchez stayed hot Monday night by going 3-4 with a double, a homer and 3 RBIs.
