Did you think he was going 30-0??

The Angels traveled to Boston Monday night and SP Jered Weaver lost his first game of the season. He’s still 6-1 so it’s not the end of the world. 3B Kevin Youkilis returned to the Boston lineup and went 2-4 with 2 RBIs. The bad news is OF Jacoby Ellsbury left with a left knee contusion. He was 2-4 with 3 runs scored and 2 SBs before leaving the game.

Yankees 2B Robinson Cano missed Monday night’s game with a bruised left hand.

Rangers closer Neftali Feliz is targeting Friday to return.

Tigers C Alex Avila was 2-4 with 2 solo homers in the Tigers loss to the Yankees.  Bartolo Colon may be shedding his BFBC nickname if he keeps this up.  He went 7 IP giving up 7 H, 3 R, 0 BB & 7 Ks in the ND.

Nationals SP Tom Gorzelanny earned his first win of the season beating the defending champion Giants 2-0 on Monday night.  He went 8 innings giving up only 3 hits with no walks and 4 Ks.  Giants SP Madison Bumgarner has been struggling, but turned in a solid performance going 7 innings giving up 4 hits, 0 ER, 1 BB & 7 Ks.  But he’s now 0-5 on the season.

Braves SP Jair Jurrjens improved to 3-0 with a victory over the Brewers.  He went 7 2/3 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB & 4 Ks.  Losing pitcher Yovani Gallardo gave up 9 hits & 5 runs in 5 IP with 4 walks and 7 Ks.

White Sox SP Mark Buehrle beat the Orioles Monday pitching 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball.  He gave up 8 hits, 4 walks and 4 Ks.  Closer Sergio Santos notched his 3rd save and still hasn’t given up an earned run this season.  1B Paul Konerko was 2-3 with 2 homers and 4 RBI.  Orioles 1B Derrek Lee  was 3-4 with a homer and 2 RBI.

Marlins 1B Gaby Sanchez went 2-5 with a grand slam in their win Monday night.

Now on to some interesting facts I read about today while getting my lineups done for the week….

Marlins SP Josh Johnson has given up 18 hits in 41 IP so far.  His ERA stands at 0.88.

The Cleveland Indians earned their 5th series sweep of the year over the weekend.  Last year they had only 4 series sweeps all season.

Reds 1B Joey Votto has reached base in every game this year.

Phillies SP Roy Halladay has given up only 1 homer in 46.1 IP this season.  Also on Saturday he threw 18 straight strikes to start the game against the Mets.
