Not sure if he suffered the injury on this play or not

Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval is off to a great start this season, after having a rough 2nd year in the bigs. Unfortunately he’s out at least 4-6 weeks after suffering a fractured hamate bone. That’s the same injury that’s kept Phillies prospect Dominic Brown sidelined all season.

In more positive injury news, Rays 3B Evan Longoria is hoping to return to the lineup on Tuesday.

Brewers SP Zack Grienke is targeting May 4th for his return.

Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez and Indians OF Grady Sizemore both received Saturday off as a rest day.

Indians DH Travis Hafner sat out on Saturday again with an ankle injury.  That’s the 3rd straight game Pronk has missed.

Cardinals skipper Tony La Russa has relegated RP Ryan Franklin to long relief for the near future, leaving him as useless for fantasy purposes as rehab is for Lindsay Lohan.

Red Sox 3B Kevin Youkilis left Saturday’s game after injuring the same hip you read about on FB2K on Thursday night.

Pirates OF Jose Tabata left the game in the first inning with hamstring tightness.  I’m sure running away from his crazy wife/gf doesn’t help.

Cubs OF Alfonso Soriano went 2-4 with 2 RBIs and his 10th homer of the season Saturday, tying Ryan Braun for the major league lead.  Cubs SP Matt Garza won his first game for the Cubs  going 8 innings and giving up 3 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 10 Ks.

Marlins ace Josh Johnson picked up a no decision Saturday going 7 innings giving up 5 hits and 6 Ks.

Rays SP James (Not Jake) Shields got a ND against the Angels Saturday going 8 innings only giving up a run with 12 Ks.  RP Jake McGee was optioned to AAA, solidifying Kyle Farnsworth in the closer position.  He’s pitched on many teams in his career, and anyone who is a fan of any of those teams has about as much faith in him as Ricky Williams passing a drug test.

Phillies SP Roy Halladay beat the Mets 2-1 with his 2nd complete game of the year, and 60th of his career.  He gave up 7 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and 8 Ks.

Indians C Carlos Santana homered for the 2nd night in a row and the Indians now have 12 straight home wins.  Rookie SP Alex White went 6 innings, giving up 6 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks and 4 Ks getting a ND in his first major league start.

Cardinals RP Fernando Salas now has 2 straight saves.  What happened to Mitchell Boggs you ask?  Your guess is as good as mine.

A’s SP Brett Anderson was roughed up by the Rangers for 7 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings Saturday.   Rangers SP Colby Lewis went 8 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 6 Ks for the win.

Blue Jays SP Kyle Drabek was knocked around by the Yankees for his first loss of the season.  He gave up 7 hits and 5 runs with 4 walks and 4 Ks.

Astros 1B Brett Wallace returned Saturday against the Brewers as a pinch hitter and drew a walk, increasing the odds he will be in the lineup on Sunday.  SP Wandy Rodriguez got the ND after Brandon Lyon blew the save, but got a Dirty Fuentes by earning the win after the offense bailed him out the next inning.  Wandy went 8 scoreless innings, giving up 7 hits, no walks and 6 Ks.  Opposing starter Randy Wolf also earned a ND going 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, and 4 Ks.

White Sox CF Alex Rios returned to the lineup Saturday and hit his first homer of the season.

Mariners pitchers Doug Fister, Aaron Laffey, and Brandon League combined to shutout the Red Sox 2-0.  Fister got the win and League got his 7th save in 7 attempts.  At this rate he should keep the job when David Aardsma does come back.
