Ryan Howard hit 2 homers Friday night including a grand slam to lead his Phillies past the Mets. He was 2-4 with 6 RBIs and now leads the NL with 27 RBIs on the season.


Braves SP Derek Lowe will start Sunday after being charged with a DWI on Thursday night.

Phillies SP Roy Oswalt left the team to be with his family during the deadly tornados that struck the US.  No word on if he will make his next scheduled start or not.

Blue Jays CF Alex Rios missed Friday night’s game due to a sore toe.  Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira was back in the lineup.

Red Sox 3B Kevin Youkilis returned to the lineup Friday.


Yankees 2B Robinson Cano hit 2 solo homers Friday night in the loss to the Blue Jays.  He was 2-3 with 2 walks and 3 runs scored.

Indians C Carlos Santana won the game over the Tigers with a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 9th inning.

Cubs OF Alfonso Soriano was 2-4 with 2 solo homers Friday.  He now has 9 homers on the season.

Red Sox OF Mike Cameron was 2-4 with 2 solo homers as well in their loss to Seattle.

Brewers OF Ryan Braun is racking up homers to go along with marriage proposals.  He was 2-4 with his major league leading 10th homer and 2 RBIs.  Astros 1B Brett Wallace was 2-2 with a SB before colliding with Prince Fielder in the 7th inning and left the game with a hip contusion.  Not the guy you want to be running into on a baseball field.  Brewers SP Shaun Marcum earned the shutout victory going 7 innings and only giving up 3 hits with 2 walks and 6 Ks.

Red Sox SP Dice K left in the top of the 5th inning with right elbow tightness.

Jonathan Broxton converted a save, albeit a shaky one, for the Dodgers Friday night. 3B Juan Uribe returned to the lineup after missing 5 games going 2-4 with a homer.

A’s SP Trevor Cahill moved to 4-0 going 7 innings, scattering 7 hits, 0 runs, 4 walks and 4 Ks in a victory over Texas.

Pirates SP Kevin Correia picked up a victory going 6 2/3 of shutout innings giving up only 3 hits while walking 1 & striking out 4.

Angels 1B Mark Trumbo continued to do a decent job of filling in for the injured Kendry Morales going 2-5 with a homer and 4 RBI in their win over the Rays.  Rays SP David Price went 4 1/3 innings giving up 12 hits and 5 runs.

Nationals SP Jason Marquis is now 3-0 after his CG shutout over the defending champion Giants.  He gave up 5 hits with 0 walks and 7 Ks.
