Cartman doesn't hate Kyle Lohse if he drafted him on his fantasy team

Cardinals SP Kyle Lohse threw a complete game two hit shutout against the Nats Thursday afternoon.  Albert Pujols homered in their 5-0 win.  Also, OF Matt Holliday is hitting .455 on the season.

Rays OF Johnny Damon returned to the lineup Thursday night.
Twins 1B Justin Morneau remained out with flu-like symptoms. The Twins may have to consider moving him to long term disability at this point.  I wonder if it’s a coincidence that he’s been calling out ever since the NHL Playoffs began?  Hmmm….
Mets OF Jason Bay came off the DL and went 1-4 with a double and 2 runs scored.
Marlins OF Logan Morrison will miss 2-4 weeks with a foot injury. Look for him to go on the DL.

Mets OF Angel Pagan left Thursday night’s game against Houston with a pulled muscle on his left side.

Blue Jays SP Brandon Morrow will return and start Saturday against the Rays.

Red Sox 3B Kevin Youkilis bruised his shin and left the game Thursday night.

GAME NOTES

Dodgers OF Andre Ethier extended his hitting streak to 18 games today.  He was on base in the 12th inning when OF Matt Kemp hit his 2nd walk off homer in 5 days to beat the Braves.  Kemp was 0-4 with 3 Ks before the homer.  SP Clayton Kershaw was 1 strike away from the CG victory before the Braves scored 2 runs to take the lead in the 9th.  But Braves closer Craig Kimbrel suffered the same fate….blowing his first save of the season 1 strike away from ending the game.

Yankees OF Curtis Granderson is hitting .320 vs LHP this season.  Look for Brett Gardner to sit in place of Andruw Jones vs lefties, not The Grandy Man moving forward.

Diamondbacks SP Daniel Hudson gave up a career high 7 runs in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Reds.  He’s now 0-4 on the season.  The winning pitcher in the game is Mike Leake..he’s now 3-0.  I double-checked the box score…no stolen bases…maybe WKRP has an update?  Pretty impressive pitching effectively in the major leagues while wearing one of those monitoring devices on your ankle.  D’Backs SS Stephen Drew hit his first homer of the season in the game.

Pirates 3B Pedro Alvarez went 3-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBIs & his first homer of the season.  Unfortunately SP James McDonald gave up 8 runs in 3 IP in their loss to the Marlins.  OF Mike Stanton also connected for his first homer of the year.  Rookie OF Scott Cousins made his first career home run count…it was a grand slam.

Rays SP Jeff Niemann gave up 5 earned in 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the White Sox.

Twins SP Scott Baker went 7 innings  and gave up 4 hits, 0 runs, a walk and 9 Ks to get the win over the Orioles.  His counterpart Jeremy Guthrie pitched well going 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 0 BB & 4 Ks in a losing effort.  Matt Capps converted his third straight save opportunity.

NY Mets SP Chris Capuano went 7 IP giving up 6 hits and a run in beating the Astros.  Rookie C Mike Nickeas hit his first major league home run.  He’s gonna remember tonight like Michael Scott will remember his final Dundie Awards.  3B David Wright broke a career-worst 0-20 streak with a homer.

Red Sox SP Josh Beckett went 8 innings giving up 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 BBs & 5 Ks in a No Decision against the Angels.  The Sox ended up winning in extra innings.

King Felix combined with the bullpen to get a 1-0 win over Oakland.  He went 7 2/3 innings giving up only 4 singles while striking out 8.  Brandon McCarthy took the loss while going the distance and only giving up 4 hits and a run with 6 Ks.

Phillies SP Roy Oswalt shook off the sore back and shut out the Padres 3-0.  He went 6 innings only giving up a single hit, with 2 BBs & 7 Ks.  1B Ryan Howard was 0-5 with 4 Ks in the game.  Padres SP Mat Latos still looking for his first victory.

Indians SP Josh Timlin went 7 1/3 innings giving up 5 hits, a run, a walk and 4 Ks against KC, but his bullpen blew it for him with closer Chris Perez blowing the save and taking the loss.
