Come and listen to a story bout a man named Jed...Lowrie that is

It was Patriots Day in Boston today, and the Red Sox hosted the Blue Jays in the earliest start time of the year, especially for a week day game. 11:00 AM EST. SS Jed Lowrie went 4-5 with a homer and 4 RBI. SP Dice K went 7 innings only giving up a hit and no runs with 1 walk and 3 Ks.

Reds SP Mike Leake, who is too cool to take the time to sign an autograph for me, was arrested and charged with shoplifting $60 in T-shirts from an Ohio Macys today.  His annual salary is $425,00 BTW.  He also received a $2.3M signing bonus.  He made headlines in his rookie year last year for skipping the minor leagues entirely and going right from Arizona St to the big leagues.

A’s SP Dallas Braden went on the DL with a shoulder injury.

Rays OF and walk off sensation Johnny Damon missed Monday’s game after injuring his finger trying to bunt on Sunday.  He should be back later in the week.

Also out Monday, but planning on returning this week is Reds 2B Brandon Phillips who is dealing with a groin injury.

Mets OF Jason Bay is targeting Thursday to return to the lineup.

Twins 1B Justin Morneau missed Monday night’s game as he and several members of the team are dealing with the flu.

Phillies SP Roy Oswalt threw some more on Monday and is ready to make his scheduled start on Thursday.

Tigers C Victor Martinez injured his groin on Saturday.  He sat out on Sunday and tried to return Monday night but had to leave the game in the 2nd inning.  The official diagnosis is right groin strain.

Reds RP Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning in relief on Monday night against the Pirates and the good news is that his velocity is back in triple digits consistently.

Nationals 2B Danny Espinoza has 12 RBI in his last 8 games.

Rays rookie OF Sam Fuld stayed hot going 4-4 with a run Monday night.  IF Felipe Lopez was 3-4 with a 3 run homer.  SP David Price went 8 innings of shutout ball giving up 4 hits and striking out 9.

Indians OF Grady Sizemore went 3-5 with an RBI & a run in his 2nd game back from the DL.  The fact that he started back to back games right off the bat is a good sign.

Pirates SP Kevin Correia had a complete game victory over the Reds.  He gave up 4 hits and 2 ERs while striking out 5.

Rangers SP CJ Wilson went 7 innings giving up 1 run on 9 hits while striking out 9 for the win.

Giants SP Tim Lincecum had a no hitter broken up with 1 out in the 7th inning by the Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez.  CarGo hit a single off the Freak to end the no-hit bid.  Lincecum ended up getting the 8-1 win with a line of 7 2/3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 3 BB & 10Ks.

SP Ted Lilly led the Dodgers over the Braves 4-2.  He went 7 innings, giving up 0 runs on 4 hits while whiffing 6.  Dodgers 2010 Minor League Player of the Year OF Jerry Sands went 1-3 with an RBI in his first major league game.  The first hit of his career was a double.  Also noteworthy besides Braves starter Tim Hudson trying to take the rookie’s head off with a pitch after a Sac Fly, was that the Braves finally switched their lineup to have OF Jason Heyward bat 2nd and struggling OF Nate McLouth move down to 7th.  So how did they do you ask?  Heyward went 0-4 & McLouth went 2-4 with an RBI.

Cubs SP Carlos Zambrano had an old fashioned pitcher’s duel with the Padres SP Tim Stauffer.  Zambrano went 8 innings giving up 3 hits, no runs and 10 Ks.  Stauffer had 7 IP, 4 hits, 0 R, 1 BB & 4 Ks.  The Cubs ended up winning the game 1-0 in the 10th inning.
