Indians attendance increases by 8 when Grady plays

Indians OF Grady Sizemore returned to action Sunday and treated the home fans who gave him a standing ovation to a 2-4 performance with a double and a solo homer. SP Fausto Carmona earned his first win of the season going 7 innings and giving up 5 hits with only 1 earned run. He walked a batter and had 5 Ks. The Indians swept the Orioles who now have lost their 7th straight game.

Giants SP Barry Zito was placed on the DL with a mid foot sprain.
A’s SP Dallas Braden injured his left (pitching) shoulder in Saturday”s game. No word on the severity yet.
Phillies SP Roy Oswalt threw a practice session on Sunday and declared himself good enough to make his scheduled start on Thursday vs SD.

Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez sat out Sunday night and is questionable for their next game on Tuesday.

Rays OF Johnny Damon injured his ring finger attempting a bunt in the 4th inning.

Pirates OF Jose Tabata was a popular sleeper candidate during draft time and he is paying dividends for his brave owners.  He had a homer and a stolen base on Sunday.  He’s batting 2nd now behind Andrew McCutcheon who went 3-3 with a homer and 2 RBI.  Reds OF Jay Bruce went 4-5 with a homer, 2 runs and 2 RBIs in the game.

Matt Capps registered his first save for the Twins since taking over for Joe Nathan.

Brewers SP Yovani Gallardo gave up 10 hits and 7 runs in 5 1/3 innings to get the loss on Sunday.

Mariners rookie SP Michael Pineda got a win with 6 innings of 3 hit, 1 run ball.

Angels SP Dan Haren went 6 1/3 innings giving up 6 hits, 2 runs and 6 Ks with 0 BBs.  He’s now 4-0 on the season with a 0.65 WHIP & 1.16 ERA.

Cubs SS Simon Castro continued to rake since he was freed from the confines of one of my fantasy teams.  He went 2-3 with a 2B, 2 runs and an RBI.

Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez, or how he’s more affectionately known…CARGO..went 4-5 with a 2B, run, 2 RBIs & a SB.

A’s SP Trevor Cahill went 8 innings giving up 4 hits & a run with 9 Ks & 0 BBs.

Cardinals SP Chris Carpenter pitched 7 innings of scoreless ball, giving up 5 hits with no walks and 6 Ks.  He was matched by Dodgers SP Chad Billingsley who went 8 innings giving up only 2 hits, no runs, 2 walks and 11 Ks.  Both got no-decisions though.  It came down to the bullpen.  Jonathan Broxton came into a 0-0 game and gave up a run in the top of the 9th.  Cardinals closer Ryan Franklin came on and blew his 4th save of the season when OF Matt Kemp hit a 2-run walkoff home run.  Franklin now has an 11.57 ERA on the season..he’s given up at least a run in 5 of his 6 appearances and has given up 3 gopher balls in 4 2/3 IP.  As I’ve said before keep an eye on Jason Motte, or even Mitchell Boggs now since Motte hasn’t been overly impressive.  Boggs has 12 Ks and has given up 2 runs in 9 IP this season.
