The Rangers Nightmare wasn't on Elm St...it was on 161st.

Yankees SP Freddy Garcia finally got his chance to pitch Saturday in the Bronx and got his first win in a Yankee uniform. After being rained out in his last scheduled start, Garcia pitched 6 shutout innings against the Rangers allowing only 2 hits.

INJURY NEWS

Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez left the game today in the 6th inning with oblique and back pain.  He claimed it felt tight before the game started and it never really loosened up. No word yet on his status for Sunday’s game.

Braves SP Jair Jurjjens came off the DL Saturday to pitch game 2 of a doubleheader vs the Mets.  He went 7 innings giving up only 2 hits and 0 runs with a walk and 4 Ks as the Braves became the next team to sweep a doubleheader from the Mets.

White Sox SP Jake Peavy who’s been on the DL all season, is looking to come back and start April 28th or 29th.

Mets SP Chris Young has been placed on the DL with bicep tendinitis.

Mets OF Jason Bay is looking to return to the lineup on Tuesday.

Indians OF Grady Sizemore is returning to the lineup Sunday and batting leadoff.

Indians SP Mitch Talbot was placed on the DL.

Giants SP Barry Zito left Saturday’s game in the 2nd inning with a sprained right foot.

Angels SS Erick Aybar is eligible to come off the DL on Tuesday.

Same with Blue Jays closer Frank Francisco.  John Rauch owners keep an eye on this situation..they might ease Francisco into the role at first.

GAME NOTES

Saturdays game between the Marlins and Phillies was rained out.  It will be rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on June 15th.

Red Sox SP Josh Beckett baffled the Blue Jays for 7 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 run, 2 BBs & 9 Ks to pick up the win.  Beckett now has 19 strikeouts over his last 15 IP.

Jonny Gomes hit 2 homers in the Reds win over the Pirates.  As you read on FB2K, Pirates CF Andrew McCutcheon was moved in the leadoff spot, and he stole his first base of the season today.

Joe Nathan blew the save against the Rays again, that’s 2 blown saves in a row.  Johnny Damon with another walk off hit, this time a single.  BREAKING NEWS : Matt Capps has replaced Nathan as Twins closer.

Braves SS Alex Gonzalez hit 2 homers and rookie 1B Freddie Freeman hit his first major league home run.  Big day for guys named Freddie today..even though it’s a different spelling.  I wonder how my Uncle Freddy is doing?

Astros OF Michael Bourn stole base #7 on Saturday night.

Cubs SS Starlin Castro went 4-5 with a homer and 3 RBIs.  Of course I traded him yesterday….

Owners of any White Sox closer…Matt Thornton or Chris Sale…keep an eye on Sergio Santos.  As you know Ozzie Guillen is frustrated with the entire bullpen, but Sergio Santos hasn’t allowed a run in 8 1/3 innings this year.

Also Giants closer Brian Wilson who struggled originally off the DL has now converted 4 straight save opportunities while only allowing 1 hit over those 4 outings.
