Break up those Indians! 8 straight wins!!

We’ll start off with some injury updates :

Orioles SS JJ Hardy is going on the DL Tuesday for an oblique strain.

Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman is going on the DL with an ab strain.

Blue Jays OF Rajai Davis is on the DL with an injured ankle.

Marlins SS Hanley Ramirez is looking to return to the lineup on Tuesday.
White Sox DH Adam Dunn was out again Monday, looking to return on Tuesday as well.

Updating yesterday’s post regarding the Cardinal’s closer situation…don’t forget about Mitchell Boggs and Miguel Batista either. Jason Motte hasn’t exactly been Lights Out (Sorry Mr. Leary), so any one of those 3 could take over for Ryan Franklin if he implodes again.
Also Sunday Angels RP Fernando Rodney got the save over Jordan Walden. They didn’t flip-flop their roles again, Walden threw 25 pitches on Saturday and needed the rest. Rodney was just a vulture, Walden is still the closer for the Angels.

Monday night part of the White Sox “closer committee” Matt Thornton blew another save.
Game Notes :
Rangers rookie SP Alexi Ogando shutout the Tigers thru 7 innings only giving up 2 hits and a walk while striking out 4. He left after 7 due to a blister on his pitching hand. In the loss, Tigers ace Justin Verlander threw a CG and gave up 6 hits and 2 runs with a walk and 4 Ks.

Rays OF Sam Fuld missed the cycle Monday night by a single.  He actually had the chance to stop at first to complete the cycle, but instead hustled into second base for another double.  He finished 4-6 with 3 runs & 3 RBIs as the Rays beat up on Dice K and the Red Sox 16-5.  Dice K gave up 7 runs & 8 hits in 2 innings.

Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki homered Monday night to give him 4 homers in his last 8 games.

Dodgers OF Matt Kemp is now 7-7 in stolen bases.

Cardinals SP Kyle McClellan beat the D’backs Monday night with 5 2/3 innings of 1 run ball.  Lance Berkman added 2 homers & 3 RBIs.

Mitch Talbot of the red hot Indians went 8 shutout innings giving up 5 hits, 2 walks, and 4 Ks in their victory over the Angels.

Mat Latos looked strong in his return from the DL.  However Edinson Volquez was stronger Monday night.  Latos went 6 innings, gave up 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 BBs & 7 Ks.  Volquez also went 6 innings and gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 3 BBs & 5 Ks in the Reds 3-2 win.

King Felix of the Mariners got knocked around by the Blue Jays to the tune of 12 hits & 7 runs in 6 innings.  Blue Jays starter Jesse Litsch pitched 5 shutout innings giving up 5 hits, 4 BBs & 4 Ks, however the Jays bullpen blew the lead.

Dodgers southpaw Clayton Kershaw shut out the Giants over 6 2/3 innings Monday night.  He gave up 6 hits while walking 2 & striking out 7.  His opposition Madison Bumgarner gave up 8 hits and 5 runs in 4 2/3 innings.

I lost Ryan Zimmerman to the DL… what do you think of Placido Polanco as a temporary 3B?

Not bad…you won’t get any power with him, but a solid avg. I don’t know who’s available in your league…I just picked up Alberto Callaspo from the Angels. Wilson Betemit of KC is swinging a hot bat too. They are saying Zimmerman will come off the DL as soon as he is eligible so it’s just a temporary fill in.

I got Polanco and Callaspo. Nice.
