Okay, I don’t have Showtime so I was unable to check out the fights but the card looked pretty good. The main event was the Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz taking on UFC outcast Paul Daley. We’ll get to those results later.

“I can’t believe you don’t have Showtime homie.”

In lightweight action we had Shinya Aoki (26-5-1) toppling Lyle Beerbohm by a facecrank submission at 1:32 of round one.

Next up is the Strikeforce debut of Keith “The Dean of Mean” Jardine. Jardine steped in for injured Mike Kyle against former champ Gegard Mousasi. The fight went all 3 rounds and was scored a majority draw (29-27, 28-28, 28-28) when Mousasi was deducted a point in the first round for an illegal upkick. (Upkicks are not illegal in the UFC or Bellator).

Top ranked Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez successfully defended his lightweight title against Tatsuya “Crusher” Kawajiri by way of a TKO due to elbow strikes at 3:14 of the first round.

Finally in the main event, welterweight champ Nick Diaz keeps his title after earning a TKO win over Paul “Semtax” Daley thus, barring a total change of heart by Dana White, means as soon as his Strikeforce contract is up Daley will be looking for a new job.

No surprises here tonight, some people were picking Daley to win but Diaz is just a tough son of a bitch and I figured he’d be able to overcome Daley’s power.
