My favorite Manny moment.

Can you believe Youtube doesn’t have a video of Manny cutting off Johnny Damon’s throw from the OF?  This picture doesn’t really do it justice.  Sorry just had to throw another Manny tidbit in there so I can tag him again.  Now onto the NON-disgraced baseball players….

Injury News :

Cardinals OF Matt Holliday is supposed to start on Sunday.

For the MASH unit leading the AL East, the Orioles…JJ Hardy and Brian Roberts both returned on Saturday.  Roberts went 0-4 in Game 1 of the doubleheader.  Hardy left the second game with a strained oblique.  Expect a DL stint.  Starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie was hoping to return and start on Sunday, but that outing has been pushed back to Tuesday.  Corporal Klinger is still in drag.

Marlins OF Mike Stanton returned to the starting lineup Saturday, but SS Hanley Ramirez missed the game.  No word on his return.  Keep in mind the Marlins have an off day Monday, so he may sit tomorrow to get a full 3 days of rest in.  Stanton meanwhile went 1-3 with an RBI 2B, 2 runs, a walk and 2 Ks.

For any of you who own Pirates starting pitchers, hopefully there aren’t that many of you….Ross Ohlendorf was placed on the 15 day DL today.

Game Notes :

Red Sox SP Clay Buckholz was beaten up by the Yankees today.  He was knocked around for 8 hits and 4 ER with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.  He also gave up another homer.  All of least season he gave up 9 home runs.  Thru 2 starts this season he has given up 5.   He also has a 7.20 ERA and K/BB ratio of 5/5.  Russell Martin added 2 homers and 4 RBIs for the Yankees today, and he has a hot model girlfriend.  See Exhibit A below.  Curtis Granderson hit his second HR of the season…BOTH off of lefties.  He really struggled against lefties last year, one of the reasons I had him lower on my draft board than most.  They also signed former Cub Carlos Silva to a minor league deal.  The Cubs will be on the hook for most of his $11.25 contract this year, the Yankees will just have to pay him a prorated amount of the veterans minimum.

Russell Martin's model girlfriend. Let's hope he has a big game everynight...or I can just make this my new profile pic.

Phillies Carlos Ruiz didn’t start, but could be the best bench player in the game not named Eric Chavez.  He hit a pinch hit grand slam in the 7th inning off an 0-2 pitch from Scott Linebrink in the Phillies win over the Braves today.  He ended up 2-2 with a homer and a career high 5 RBI.  That was his first career grand salami as well.

Bruce Chen and Phil Coke dueled today in the Royals/Tigers game.  Chen was the winner pitching 6 shutout innings only giving up 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 7.  Coke was not the right one baby today.  He was the tough luck loser going 6 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits but 4 walks to go along with his 7 Ks.

Rays OF & leadoff hitter Sam Fuld stole his 5th base today, and made the best catch in the OF I’ve seen all year.  However he’s only hitting .222 on the year.  Most of the Rays are slumping as you know.  But hey…they did score 2 runs today!!  Also in that game Chris Sale notched the save for the White Sox, not Matt Thornton.  He of course gave up a solo homer.

In more Oriole news, they are probably the biggest surprise in the league this year, not counting everyone’s favorites the Red Sox being 1-7.  Rookie Zach Britton confounded the mighty Rangers lineup today by pitching 7 2/3 innings of shutout ball while only giving up 4 hits, 3 BB & 2 K.  The Orioles won the game 5-0, and Britton has only given up 1 ER in his career so far.  2 starts…but still very impressive.  What is this some kind of bust?  Unfortunately in Game 2 Jake Arrieta got lit up for 8 runs & 6 hits in 3 1/3 innings.  Matt Harrison got the split for the Rangers with 7 innings of 2 hit, 1 run ball in Game 2.

The star for the NY Mets in their victory today was Carlos Beltran who hit 2 homers in his 2-4 day.  He also had 3 runs & 3 RBIs.

Prince Fielder went 3-4 with 3 doubles and 4 RBIs in the Brewers 6-0 shutout of the Cubs.  Chris Narveson got the win going 7 innings giving up 6 hits with only 1 walk and 9 Ks.  He’s pitched 13 innings this season and hasn’t given up an earned run yet.

A’s starter Gio Gonzalez won a pitcher’s duel over the Twins’ Nick Blackburn Saturday night 1-0.  Gio went 6 innings and gave up 4 hits.  Blackburn went 6 innings and gave up no earned runs but got the loss.  The only run was scored on a 6th inning error by Twins SS Alexi Casilla.

The Reds are 6-2 thanks to Bronson Arroyo Saturday night.  He went 6 innings scattering 8 hits with 1 run, no walks, and 6 Ks.  Diamondbacks starter Daniel Hudson got the loss going 7 innings, only giving up 3 hits, but 2 runs,  3 BBs and 8 Ks.  Arroyo is now 2-0, and Hudson falls to 0-2 but has a 3.46 ERA.

Indians starting pitcher Justin Masterson improved to 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA on the season.  The Indians beat Seattle 2-1.  He went 6 1/3 innings, gave up 4 hits, 1 run, 1 BB & 9Ks.  Mariners starting pitcher Doug Fister continued with his string of bad luck.  He gave up 6 hits in 6 innings Saturday night, but only 1 ER with 2 BBs & 3 Ks.  He’s 0-2 on the season with a 2.31 ERA.  The Mariners have scored only 1 run in both games he’s started this year.

Cardinals closer Ryan Franklin blew another save Saturday night.  Ruined a gem by a starting pitcher I own..Jaime Garcia.  Franklin just couldn’t get the 3rd out could he?  10 points for a win…down the drain!!  Hope this doesn’t keep me up all night now.  Franklin gave up 2 hits, 2 runs and a walk.  Garcia’s line was 6 IP 4 H, 1 run, 1 BB & 9 Ks.  He has an ERA of 0.60 on the year.  Giants pitcher Matt Cain pitched well in his No Decision.  7 IP 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB & 4Ks.

I’m not sure that I agree 100% with your post, but I did find it somewhat interesting.
