So Dunn, you were under Oveur and over Unger?

Dunn is over Unger? Anyway….Adam Dunn had an appendectomy and is going to miss at least 5 games. Strange that Matt Holliday had the same injury last week. I wonder if they had the steak or the fish? Oh I remember he had the lasagna!

If I could be serious for a minute, here’s some more injury news and a quick listing of who’s hot/who’s not :

Following up some news from yesterday, the Cubs placed starting pitchers Andrew Cashner and Randy Wells on the 15 day DL today.

Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jiminez went to the DL for that cuticle injury.

Yunel Escobar of Toronto suffered a concussion  Wednesday night.  Check back for updates.

Also from the Blue Jays, Jose Bautista’s daughter was born (CONGRATULATIONS!), he should be back Friday.

Angels SS Erick Aybar strained his left oblique and they are hoping to keep him off the DL.  He’s missed a few games thus far.  Not sure if it’s the same injury that occurred to Kirstie Alley’s dance partner the other night.

Astros speedy OF Michael Bourn left Wednesday night’s game against the hot Reds (Red Hots?) in the 7th inning with a tight groin.  OUCH!

And now for something completely different…..some good news.

SF Giants welcomed back closer Brian Wilson off the DL today.

Diamondbacks SS Stephen Drew hopes to be back in the lineup Friday.

Due to the Yankees/Twins game being rained out Wed night, Freddy Garcia’s start will be skipped.  Also Francisco Liriano will now pitch Thursday and scheduled starter Carl Pavano will be pushed to Friday.

Rays DH Manny Ramirez was removed from the starting lineup for a few days, although he did pinch hit Wednesday.  He of course stayed frigid and made an out.

Some standout performances from Wednesdays games :

Giants C Buster Posey was 3-5 with a homer and 4 RBIs.

Phillies slugging 1B Ryan Howard was 4-4 with a homer and 2 doubles.

Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum got the win Wednesday over the Padres.  The Freak had 7 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0BB and 13Ks.

Pirates pitcher Kevin Correia went 7 IP with 0 R, 5H, 2BB & 3 Ks.

Rays rookie Jeremy Hellickson had 10Ks in 5 2/3 inning but got the loss against Dan Haren and the Angels today.  He gave up 6 H, 2BB, and 3ERs.

And now some of the bad performances :

Dodgers pitcher Chad Billingsley, after a strong performance in his first start of the season, came back to give up 5R, 6H, 3BB & 3Ks in 3 innings of work in a loss to the Rockies.

Joakim Soria blew a save today with 2 outs and no runners on.  He got the first 2 outs in the ninth and then the White Sox proceeded to go Single, Walk, Single, Single, Double.  Before he got the third out 4 runs had scored and a 7-6 lead turned into a 10-7 loss for the Royals who had won 4 straight games in their last AB.

Met Mike Pelfrey gave up 6ER & 8 hits in just 2 innings of work today against the Phillies. Counterpart Joe Blanton wasn’t much better giving up 7ER & 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
