As the lull of the TV season lingers before the networks start kicking into high gear with the build-up to May sweeps, there are a few things of interest to check out this week.

Tonight features the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship game between Butler and UConn. The NBA is steering clear from competing with this game so if you’re in the mood to watch some hoops this is your only choice. Unless you want to borrow my VHS copy of Sunset Park. Coverage starts at 9 on CBS. Check back here after the game for in-depth analysis.

Also tonight some wrestling superstars from the era of the Monday Night Wars are back as trainers on the return of WWE’s Tough Enough. Booker T, Bill Demott and Trish Stratus will help get contestants in shape and help decide who has what it takes to be a WWE Superstar. The Rattlesnake “Stone Cold” Steve Austin serves as our host. Also of note, the 2010 Miss USA Rima Fakih is one of the wrestling hopefuls. Tough Enough is scheduled to begin on USA after WWE RAW which is usually about 11:05.

Do you need any other reason?

After FX announced that they will not be renewing the show, Tuesday night’s episode of the boxing drama Lights Out will serve as the series finale. I can’t heap enough praise on this show and the cast. It was a great season and I wish the rating’s allowed it to come back for another round. Nice boxing reference, right? The finale airs at 10pm on FX.

"What do you mean I'm cancelled?"

On Wednesday night FOX premieres their new comedy Breaking In, staring Christian Slater, Brett Harrison, Odette Annable and Michael Rosenbaum. Harrison stars as the new guy in Slater’s security firm where they are hired to test their client’s security’s systems by breaking into them. No word on if Robert Redford will be making a cameo, River Phoenix has officially declined though. Breaking In starts at 9:30.

"I can't believe they got Christian Slater to play me."

Also premiering Wednesday night, former pro-skateboarder and current SiriusXM Radio host Jason Ellis brings his lunatic antics to Fuel TV at 10pm on Ellis Mania. The show will feature footage from Ellis’ live events and will have appearances from Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Travis Pastrana, Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden and Ricki Rachtman. Also billed for the four episode series are shock collars and hot chicks fighting. Sounds interesting, RED DRAGON!!

If you missed it on Sunday night, AMC will be re-airing the premiere of their new murder mystery series The Killing Thursday night at 9 pm. The series revolves around the murder of a Seattle teenager and each of it’s 13 episodes will represent one day in the lives of the investigators, the family and the suspects. AMC has given us Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, so give this one a shot if you haven’t already.

Finally on Saturday night HBO premieres their taping of comedian Colin Quinn’s Broadway show Long Story Short. In the show, Quinn takes the stage to tell the history of the entire world in 75 minutes. Produced by Jerry Seinfeld the show recently ended it’s acclaimed run on Broadway. Long Story Short premieres at 10pm.

Anything of interest I missed that you enjoy? Let me know, I’ll check it out.
